Decision Making Process for Major Policy Proposals

The hospital is governed by a voluntary Board of Management.  The Board has responsibility for the strategic direction of the hospital.

Day to day operation of the hospital, including the implementation of the Strategic Plan,  is delegated to the CEO, who reports to the Board

The CEO is supported by a Hospital Management Team (HMT). That team has operational responsibility for the provision of day to day hospital services.

The HMT devise policies and procedures to underpin the smooth and efficient operation of hospital services.

The hospital works closely with all involved in the local health services economy, including our main funding agency, the HSE.  There is frequent dialogue on the nature and needs of various services, but the hospital does not make formal policy proposals in its own right.
